About Us

The Victorian Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby works towards equality, social justice and human rights for members of the GLBTI community. The VGLRL achieves its goals through representation, advocacy and working with the media.

We are not aligned with any political party. We are a community based lobby group. We work with, and for the community, along with non profit, health and representatives of government agencies to create positive change in the area of human rights and policy development.

We acknowledge the unique rights and status of Indigenous Australians as the first owners and ongoing custodians of this land.

We support cultural diversity and difference and recognise that respecting these differences makes society stronger.

We aim to achieve equal representation of women and men within the organisation, and work very closely with the transgender community to ensure that gender variant/diverse community members are represented on the committee of management.

Anyone can become a member of the VGLRL, as long as they agree with the mission, philosophy and objectives of the organisation. The VGLRL committee of management is designed to ensure representation of GLBTI people, while still allowing space for members who do not identify as GLBTI.
